Just tried this technique today, and I must say, it works wonders! I've been looking for a way to pull off that old-school drum sound, and this definitely takes the cake.

Good stuff Jeremy! I'd definitely be interested in hearing some samples of the variations you got. I've definitely fallen into this trap, as someone who's just starting to record my own stuff, with very little experience (with the recording process) it's been a battle to look up the "right" way to mic and EQ everything. I've gotten very frustrated when I replicate studio patterns that I find, and it sounds like garbage. Turns out, it's not that I was missing a step, or doing some "wrong", I was just wanting something more than what that setup would afford me. I find that I haven't experimented enough, on a daily basis. Anyway, thanks for the push in the right direction! Please keep posts like this coming!

I disagree with this statement "Most of my day was wasted." What you made that day was epic. Easily my favorite Sucre tune. And that's saying something because every track you guys play is fantastic. I actually fell in love with it live before hearing it recorded.
