This is quite true. When I was working in a venue I think the sound people were very awesome and nice at least 3/4ths of the time. But I've seen the other side, I've seen the jerks and the attitude.
You're right, if they don't like it, if they dread when they are doing, they shouldn't be doing it any longer.
